Aeromexico

Aeromexico offers over 300 flights per day and has a fleet of 98 aircraft offering 39 destinations; 15 in Mexico.

This company has gone through many changes in its long life. Originally founded in 1934 by Antonio Díaz Lombardo, under the name of 'Aerovías de México,' the company was purchased on October 1, 1988., but it was decided to continue with the Aeromexico name.

In the early nineties, Aeromexico decided on a strategy of on-time services as its spearhead tactic for competing in a global market and is respected the world over for being one of the most punctual airlines.

In 1996, the same year as the CINTRA holding company was created to secure the airline's financial restructuring, Aeromexico entered into a code-share alliance with Delta Airlines and Air France and in the year 2000, became a member of the world famous Sky Team.

Aeroméxico received the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification in 2005 (renewed in 2007), in recognition of the company's efforts regarding its operational management and control systems. At the latest count, just 214 airlines worldwide have received this certification.

In January of 2006, the Consorcio Aeromexico, S.A. de C.V., was created to replace Cintra, S.A. de C.V. and the company was, after protracted negotiaions, acquired by a group of 15 Mexican investors headed by José Luis Barraza, together with Grupo Banamex and others from the Instituto de Protección al Ahorro Bancario (IPAB-Bank Savings Protection Institute).

The company inaugurated its first transatlantic route on January 17, 2009: Mexico City - London, initially with 2 flights per week, then on February 17, the number of flights will be increased to 4 per week, in both directions.
