Click Mexicana - services suspended
|
| The first of the recent wave of ‘budget’ airlines to begin operating in Mexico was Click Mexicana. |
Click was formerly known as Aerocaribe, which was founded in 1975. Aerocaribe was purchased by Mexicana de Aviación (Mexicana) in August, 1995., and in July of 2005, the company changed the airline's name to Click Mexicana and launched services as a 'Budget' airline.
In May of 2006, the company increased its fleet with a further 4 aircraft making it Mexico's largest budget airline fleet with 15 planes. Nowadays the company operates 17 Fokker F-100.
With the additional aircraft incorporated into its fleet, the company transported 1,485,609 passengers in 2006. In 2007, the number increased to 2.2 million, according to recently released statistics .
Click Mexicana received the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification in 2007, in recognition of the company's efforts regarding its
operational management and control systems. At the latest count, just
214 airlines worldwide have received this certification.
This year (2009), Click Mexicana is to become an affiliate with the "One World Airline Alliance," good news for members of its frequent flier club.
