Just like an area of magic, outside normal space and time,
full of legends and mysteries, is the Zone of Silence.
This zone lies in the vertex that forms
the States of Chihuahua, Coahuila and Durango, under the vigilant watch of the
famous peaks known as Las Tetas de Juana (The Breasts of Juana).
The Zone of Silence, which includes San Juan del
Centro and what was once the Hacienda de Mohovano, is close to Parallel 27. It
is a desertic region in which the Hertz wavelengths, over much of the area, are
non-existent, for which reason the absence of sound is practically absolute,
thus providing the name for the area.
In this zone, known as the Chupadero, the
remains of meteorites have been found, one of which, weighing 14 tons, was
transferred to the old Architectural School of the National Autonomous
University of Mexico (UNAM).
Once upon a time, this whole area was a large sea
and for this reason many petrified fossils of sea life are found in the region
with an estimated age of 60 million years.
