The security, commodity and efficiency of this airport were tried and tested in 2005, during the United Nations Conference on finance and development, when it received visitors and representatives from 180 countries. The airport passed the test with flying colours.
This, the main airport of Monterrey, official name "General Mariano Escobedo," is located 24 kms. from the state capital, also known as the 'Sultan of the North. Once the renovation work was completed, in 2001, the airport qualified as one of the most modern in the world.
The two terminals are connected by a subterranean tunnel and the parking facility is opposite the terminals.
In 2006, the Terminal C passenger installations were inaugurated, meaning the airport can now offer services to 8 million passengers annually.

From the city center, take Avenida de la Constitución and then the Carr. Miguel Alemán; the trip takes roughly half an hour.
