The International Airport of Matamoros, 'General Servando Canales,' is operated by Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA); opens to the public between 08:00 & 20:00 hours and can attend aircraft up to the size of the B-727.
The airport became part of the ASA Airport Network in 1965 and has a surface area of almost 469 hectares with a commercial platform (15,360 m2) and a general aviation platform (13,500) that offer 3 & 16 positions, respectively.
The runway length is 2.3 kms. and it was totally rehabilitated in 2000; other notable works carried out at the airport include the incorporation of horizontal signalling for the runway, taxiways and platform in 2005.
