The security, commodity and efficiency of this airport were tried and tested in 2005, during the United Nations Conference on finance and development, when it received visitors and representatives from 180 countries. The airport passed the test with flying colours.
The airport "General Mariano Escobedo," of Monterrey, the state capital, also known as the 'Sultano del Norte' was renovated in 2001, and with the work completed left the airport as one of the most modern in the world.
