The Airport 'Corazon de María' is located 18 kms from the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, in the southern State of Chiapas.
Since 1988 it has been part of the ASA Airport Network; it has a total surface area of 165 hectares that house a general aviation platform of 6,000 sq. mts. (3 positions) and a runway of 2.6 kms.
Between 2001 & 2005, the Operations Administration of ASA carried out a rehabilitation program for the operational areas of its airport network, in the case of San Cristobal de las Casas Airport there was an intense remodelling of its runway and platform.
Other works included environmental improvement (water treatment plant, separation of networks and residual deposit) and improvement to access roads (signals, construction of ramps and bathroom facility improvements), among others things.
The parking facilities offer spaces for up to 45 vehicles.
In 2006, this airport received 955 passengers and carried out 365 operations.

This airport opened its doors to the public in June, 2007,. and is one of the most recently inaugurated airports of the country.

The investment made for the construction of this airport was shared between the Federal Government (49%) and the local State Government (51%), the total coming to 825 million Mexican pesos.
Constructed to replace the older airport of Terán, and the Airport of Llano San Juan (both of which are now closed to commercial aircraft), this is the first airport in the country to divide the arrivals and depaertures areas for passengers on two levels to facilitate access to the installations, and offers parking for up to 600 vehicles.
With thie aforementioned investment, this airport can offer servicies to up to 800,000 people per year - for the moment - for national flights, however, there are plans to introduce international flights in the near future, so as to communicate the State of Chiapas with Guatemala and Argentina (to the south) and the United States of America (to the north).
The airport offers 5 points of contact, four direct and one remote, providing capacity for 350 operations on a daily basis.
Additionally, the airport has three taxiways: the A: 1,000 meters x 23; the B: 528 meters x 23; and the C: 490 meters x 23; as well as three platforms for the parking of aircraft.
