The Barrio Antigua of Monterrey


The nightlife of Monterrey is concentrated in the Barrio Antiguo located just a few blocks from the city's central hotel zone. The Barrio Antiguo has a whole array of bars and nightclubs offering both alternative and live music, not to mention the great variety of speciality restaurants and cafés.




Gran Plaza in the City of Monterrey


One of the most popular tourist attractions of Monterrey is the Gran Plaza, sometiems referred to as the Macroplaza, which is located in the centre of the city and has an area of approximately 40 hectares.

This area acts as home to the Palacio de Gobierno; the Paseo Santa Lucía, the place where, 400 years ago, Diego de Montemayor founded the city; the Faro de Comercio (the Lighthouse of Commerce); the Fuente de la Vida (Fountain of Life) and the Cathedral of Monterrey.




Amusement Parks in the City of Monterrey


Plaza Sésamo. This amusement park is inspired by the personalities of the TV show of the same name. The park has different sections: 'Aquamundo,' with 25 aquatic attractions including toboggans, artificial rivers, swimming pools and chapoteaderos and the 'Villa Sésamo,' with its fun rides being both interactive and recreational. The site also offers restaurants and a theatre.

Bosque Mágico. Offers diversion for the whole family with water based games and fairground rides which range from the fear factor to particpation, as well as scenic walks and spectacular shows.

Bioparque Estrella. This is an ecological reserve that covers an area of 300 hectares surrounded by impressive countryside and offers magnificent tours such as the Serengeti Safari, where one can observe over a thousand different animals including 50 different species wandering about in liberty; the Sendero las Cascadas (Path of the waterfalls); the Deslizadero Kilimanjaro (Kilimanjaro Slide); the Lago de Pesca (Fishing Lake); the Botanic Garden and a whole host of adventures.

This is the ideal place for all the family and friends to get to know a little more about our natural surroundings, including the fauna and flora.

Fundadora Park
     
 
 


The Parque Fundidora is the Site Museum dedicated to supplying the family with fun and recreation. The museum is housed in what, for eighty-six years, was the first iron and steel company of Latin America; nowadays the area is dedicated to ecological preservation, recreation, culture, sports and economic development.

The Museum-Park is made up of approximately 114 hectares where there are old-fashioned buildings, gardens, plazas, lakes, children's areas and new developments for cultural, recreational, business and sporting activities.

Within the park you'll also find the Centro Internacional de Negocios Cintemex (Cinemex International Business Centre), the Amusement Park 'Plaza Sésamo,' the Coca­Cola Auditorium, Nuevo Leon's Cineteca-Fototeca, the Centro de las Artes (Arts Centre), the Carting Circuit, the Monterrey Arena, the 'Acero' park for baseball and softbol and the Centro de Desarrollo Artístico 'Alfonso Reyes' (Alfonso Reyes Centre for Artistic Development), which is part of the National Institute of Fina Arts - INBA.
